What to do when Auto-review says it couldn't classify an action

Tip · Nov. 1, 2026

Auto-review is the quick safety check Grok Bot runs before some actions, such as opening a website on its computer or running a command. Usually you never notice it. But in late October, users on the Cursor forum reported Bots stopping with a message that said an error occurred while classifying the action and asked them to review it manually. No approval card appeared, so there was nothing to approve.

What the error means. It doesn't mean your Bot tried something risky. The check itself failed. Colin, a Cursor community support engineer, replied in the forum thread Oct. 29 that the trouble was temporary, came from Cursor's side and was hitting other users as well. Users didn't have to change anything, he said.

He also explained the missing card. When the check errors, the action is blocked instead of coming to you for approval. Asking for approval again just reruns the same check, so it fails in the same way. He called that a known issue.

What to do.

  1. Wait a bit, then ask your Bot to try again. Colin said retrying later should work as things recover.
  2. If the work can't wait, you can switch Auto-review off for now. Know the trade-off: Colin noted that actions then run without the check.
  3. Turn Auto-review back on as soon as the errors stop. Put a reminder on your calendar or ask your Bot to remind you, so it doesn't stay off for weeks.

Keep it in perspective. If you see this error, you didn't break anything and your Bot didn't misbehave. Pause, retry, and switch the check back on when you're done.
