Grok Bot adds a read-only Finance connector through Plaid

News · Oct. 4, 2026

Grok Bot can now link bank, card, and investment accounts through a Finance integration that runs on Plaid.

"Grok Bot now connects to your finances," the official @bot account said on X on Sept. 26, 2026, at 2:54 p.m. CT. "Link your bank, card, and investment accounts with the new Finance integration, then ask Bot to help manage your spending, investments, and more."

In a follow-up post in the same thread, @bot said accounts connect securely through Plaid, access is read-only, Grok Bot never sees logins, and users can unlink anytime. It told users to search for "Finance" in the marketplace to get started and linked https://x.ai/bot.

Elon Musk quoted the announcement the same afternoon. "Grok @Bot can manage your finances," he posted at 4:21 p.m. CT.

The posts do not list supported banks or brokerages, plan limits, countries, or what "help manage" covers beyond read-only account access. They do not say the integration can move money, place trades, or pay bills. No x.ai news page for the launch was found at the time of this brief.

This is a Grok Bot product connector. It is separate from older finance tools inside the Grok chat product and from third-party money plugins on the community shelf.

What to do with it

  1. In Grok Bot, open the marketplace or Plugins and search for "Finance."
  2. Install it, then finish the Plaid link in your browser when asked.
  3. Keep money bots on a short leash: read-only still shows balances and transactions to every bot that can use the connector. Put stop signs in the bot description for sending, spending, and deleting, and keep Auto-review on "Ask first" for anything that can change an account.
  4. If you already planned a spending or investment brief bot, add Finance to its "what it can touch" list and leave writes off the card. See How do you plan a bot?.
