Official Grok Bot security FAQ

News / Trending

xAI published an official Grok Bot security FAQ for the questions security reviews ask most often. Use that page as the source of truth. This tip teaches the six facts you need on day one.

One Firecracker microVM per user, not per Bot. Each Cursor user gets a dedicated cloud computer with its own kernel, memory, and virtual devices. Another user cannot reach your machine. Inside your account, every Bot shares that computer, so a login or file is available to the whole roster. If a workload needs its own credentials, give it its own Cursor user.

Blocking a plugin does not block the website. Connector policy and network policy are separate layers. A Bot can still open that service in the browser unless you close the path with Network Controls, which is Enterprise only. Self-serve Teams do not get a destination allowlist.

Auto Review watches the sharp edges, not every side effect. With enforcement on, it evaluates shell commands, plugin calls, computer use, automation writes, and delegation such as Cloud Agents and subagent launches. It can allow, ask you, or deny. It does not review every side effect. Memory writes and most settings changes sit outside that gate. Your own setting remains the off switch; there is no org-wide lock today.

No on-prem and no bring-your-own image. Grok Bot runs only on Cursor-hosted cloud computers. On-premises deployment, inside-your-perimeter hosting, and BYO-image are not supported today.

Egress is shared static ranges only. Computers leave on shared static egress IPs. Dedicated per-customer IPs are not available. Some sites flag datacenter ranges; ask your account team for the current allowlist numbers when you need them on your own services.

ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 42001 include Grok Bot. Anysphere holds both certifications (issued by Schellman), and Grok Bot sits in the current ISO scope. Certificates live at trust.cursor.com.

Read the full FAQ before you promise audit views, spend caps, or residency language that the docs do not give you. Teams and Enterprise controls (Network Controls, Team Setup, Action Recording, audit logs) are spelled out on the teams and enterprises page.
