# Let Grok Bot use your phone's apps, one Allow at a time

*Beginner · How-to · Oct. 23, 2026*

Grok Bot can now reach into the apps on your phone. The official @bot account announced it Oct. 22: "Grok Bot can now use Calendar, Reminders, Contacts, and more apps on your phone. / Rolling out now on iOS and Android."

That's a bigger step than it sounds. Until now, your Bot worked on its own computer in the cloud and in the apps you connected to it, such as Gmail or Google Calendar. This lets it work with what lives on the phone in your pocket.

You don't have to hand it everything. The image in the announcement shows each app with its own Allow button. As Digital Trends put it, that means "you get to decide which apps it can access."

## What it can reach

The announcement image lists six apps and services:

- **Messages:** read and send messages.

- **Location:** find places near you.

- **Calendar:** see your day and add events.

- **Reminders:** set and check reminders.

- **Contacts:** find and add contacts.

- **Home:** control lights, locks and more.

Neither the @bot post nor Grok Bot's help pages say which of these work on iPhone and which on Android, so don't count on all six on your phone. Treat the image as a preview, not a promise of what your screen will show.

## Step 1: Update the app

The @bot account's follow-up post says to "update to the latest version to try it." Open the App Store or Google Play, find Grok Bot and tap Update. If you don't have the phone app yet, the post links to it.

Because the feature is "rolling out," some people will get it later than others. If you don't see it after updating, check again later.

## Step 2: Start with one low-risk app

Reminders is a good first yes. A wrong reminder costs you little, and you'll see right away whether the Bot understood you.

Ask something plain, such as "Remind me at 4 p.m. to call the vet." GG hasn't tested yet whether a request like that is what brings up the Allow choices, or whether you'll find them somewhere in the app first.

When you get the choice, allow Reminders and leave the rest off.

## Step 3: Add apps only when a job needs them

Say yes to an app when you have a real job for it, not because the button is there.

- Allow **Calendar** when you want "What's on my day?" or "Put lunch with Sam on Thursday at noon" to work from the phone.

- Allow **Contacts** when you want the Bot to find a number or save a new one.

- Think twice about **Messages** and **Home**. Sending a text goes out under your name and can't be called back. Unlocking a door is a physical action. Leave both off until you've used the Bot a while and know how it behaves.

GG's Basics guide on [stop signs](/basics-stop-signs-approvals/) explains how to tell a Bot to ask before anything that can't be undone. Add that rule before you allow Messages.

## Step 4: Pair it with a button press

On an iPhone 15 Pro or later, you can start a voice chat with your Bot from the Action Button. GG walked through that in [Put your Bot on the iPhone Action Button](/iphone-action-button-voice-chat/). Put the two together and "remind me to take the trash out tonight" becomes one press and one sentence.

## What we don't know yet

- **How to turn an app back off.** Nothing official says yet whether you switch an app off inside Grok Bot, in the phone's own Settings, or both.

- **What works where.** Nothing official says whether the Grok Bot app has to stay open, or whether every action in the image works on both iPhone and Android.

- **Official instructions.** As of Oct. 23, Grok Bot's mobile help page and the Oct. 22 release notes for version 0.75.2 don't mention phone-app access. GG will update this page when they do.
