# Template of the week: Spam-Call Scrubber files data broker opt-outs

*How-to · Oct. 17, 2026*

If spam calls keep coming, a community Grok Bot template is built to do the slow part of fighting them: finding where your phone number is listed and asking each site to take it down.

The template is Spam-Call Scrubber, by Arash. "I got tired of all the spam calls I was getting so I had @bot find my number listed on sites and file the removals," he posted on X at 7:40 a.m. CT Oct. 15. "I made it a free skill so you can do the same."

Elon Musk quote-posted it at 4:57 p.m. CT that day: "Ask your @Grok @Bot to remove your phone number from spam call & text lists!" By midday Oct. 17, Musk's post had more than 42,000 likes and about 5.5 million views. Arash's own post had more than 15,000 bookmarks, meaning a lot of people saved it to try later.

## What it does

The Bot's page on x.ai says it "Finds your phone number on people-search sites and data brokers, submits the opt-outs, finishes the email confirmations, and re-checks on the schedule you choose. Asks only for the minimum details it needs."

People-search sites and data brokers are companies that collect and sell contact details. An opt-out is the removal request each site makes you file, and many send an email you have to confirm before the removal goes through.

The page does not name which sites it checks, which inbox it uses for those confirmations, or exactly what details it asks for. Treat those as unknowns until you add the Bot and read its setup.

## Who made it

The page credits it "by Arash." Arash's X bio says he is the founder of ScentWedge.

The page also carries the standard third-party notice: the Bot "was created by a third-party user," not by the company, and "may act on your behalf." Arash's post calls it a skill; on x.ai it is listed as a Bot template you add.

It is not a SpaceXAI release. Musk's post was a shout-out to a user's build, as with [Scam Email Detector](/scam-email-detector-template/), GG's Oct. 14 template of the week.

## When to use it

- You get spam calls or texts and have never filed data broker opt-outs, or you gave up because there were too many.

- You're comfortable handing a Bot your name and phone number, which it needs in order to search for your listings.

- You want it to keep checking, since listings can come back. The page says it "re-checks on the schedule you choose."

Skip it if you aren't willing to share personal details with a Bot, or if you need a paid removal service with a guarantee. Nothing on the page promises your number will stay off every list.

## How to call it

1. Open the page: [Spam-Call Scrubber](https://x.ai/bot/fUj6TYhiW_cjtzWvbsFgz).

2. Read the one-line job and the third-party terms.

3. Click **Add to Grok Bot** and answer only the questions it asks. Its page says it "Asks only for the minimum details it needs," so question anything that seems like more.

4. Ask it to report every site where it finds your number before it files anything, so you can see the list.

5. Set the re-check schedule. Monthly is a fair start; see [Basics #5, Routines](/basics-routines-cadence/) on picking the slowest schedule that still does the job.

> **Before you add: three safety notes**
> - **You're handing over personal details.** The search only works if the Bot knows what to look for. Give it what the job needs and nothing extra. This job shouldn't need a Social Security number or any account password.
> - **It acts on your behalf.** It submits forms in your name and handles confirmation emails. Watch the first run and keep [Stop signs](/basics-stop-signs-approvals/) on anything you'd want to approve.
> - **Mail access is account-wide.** If you connect an inbox for confirmations, every Bot on your account can use that connector, per [Connect apps](/basics-connect-apps/).
