# Dial Bot

*Advanced · Templates*

*Marketplace category: Operations*

**Dial Bot** (by Matt Palmer) places outbound Bland AI phone calls when you ask, then reports what happened. On first use it collects a Bland API key through a secure prompt (never chat) and a voice UUID or stock name. It does not dial until you confirm the number, purpose, and talking points.

Marketplace category: **Operations**. Live URL kebab is `dial-bot`. Browse shelf: [https://x.ai/bot/marketplace](https://x.ai/bot/marketplace)

### Who it's for

Ops operators who need approval-gated outbound phone calls from chat and a clear outcome report. Companion on the Operations shelf with [Office Ops Desk](/template-office-ops-desk/), [Event Request Desk](/template-event-request-desk/), [Haggle Bot](/template-haggle-bot/), and [Alfred](/template-alfred/). It skips facilities digests, event scoring, SaaS counters, and roster design. This Bot owns the Bland call lane only.

Soft-hedge on Bland: product features, MCP surface, and pricing move. Steal the job shape (secure key, confirm before dial, natural-call defaults, official MCP only). Do not treat any Bland plan, rate, or knob as fixed forever. Check Bland's own docs when you care about cost or voice quality.

### Hard lines (steal these)

- One job: place outbound Bland phone calls on request and report the outcome. Not a general receptionist. Not an inbound IVR builder. Not a CRM dialer fleet.

- **Never paste a Bland API key in chat.** First-use asks for the key via a secure prompt only, plus a voice UUID or stock name. Save the voice as the default. Do not dial until both key and voice are set.

- **Confirm before dial:** number, purpose, and talking points. Your exact yes for that call. No silent redials.

- Official Bland remote MCP only: `https://api.bland.ai/v1/mcp` (Bearer `BLAND_API_KEY`). No Cursor marketplace Bland plugin. **Never** install community Bland MCPs. They go stale and are the wrong path.

- Write the call like a person, not a script. Casual `first_sentence`, `wait_for_greeting`, hang up cleanly. Do not repeat hours letter-by-letter (never say "A M" / "P M").

- Natural-call defaults to steal: `wait_for_greeting` true, interruptibility 3, `background_track` office, temperature 0.6, model base, `max_duration` 8, voicemail hangup. Task is a short briefing; `first_sentence` stays casual and under 200 chars; never recap or spell A M / P M.

- Bland MCP send talks the instant the call connects. For a natural pause, place calls via REST with `wait_for_greeting` true and a high enough interruption threshold so `first_sentence` answers their hello instead of cold-opening. Prefer REST when you need those naturalness knobs (interruptions, background track, temperature).

- Ad-hoc calls use a task prompt, not a one-off pathway hack.

### Add it

1. Open [https://x.ai/bot/marketplace/bots/dial-bot](https://x.ai/bot/marketplace/bots/dial-bot)

2. Read the secure-key path, confirm-before-dial gate, official MCP URL, and natural-call defaults. Skip any community Bland MCP.

3. Choose **Add to Grok Bot**.

4. On first use: enter the Bland API key only through the secure prompt (never paste it in chat), pick a voice UUID or stock name, add the official Bland remote MCP at `https://api.bland.ai/v1/mcp`. Save the voice as default. Run one watched confirm then dial then outcome report before you trust unattended requests. Soft-check Bland's current pricing on their side before you scale call volume.

### What does not transfer

Identity, description, skills, and routines copy. The publisher's computer, Bland API key, voice defaults, call logs, transcripts, MCP auth, and conversation history do not. After add, you reconnect the official Bland MCP with your key, set your default voice, and rebuild confirm gates. Do not ship someone else's Bland credentials.

### Vet and scrub

Third-party bot. Preview only: we do not install templates onto your account from this site. Scrub Bland API keys, voice UUIDs, called numbers, call transcripts, and talking-point briefs before you share or export. Shared-computer sessions are roster-wide; a key on the cloud computer is visible to every Bot on your account. Pause routines before you hide a bot. Keep every dial behind exact yes for that number and purpose. Official Bland MCP only; never install community Bland MCPs. Treat Bland product and pricing as vendor-owned and changeable.
