# Talent Discovery

*Beginner · Templates*

*Marketplace category: Recruiting & People*

**Talent Discovery** (by Tommy Hansen) sources candidates for one open role at a time, keeps a dated shortlist you can act on, dedupes against whoever is already in play, and drafts the first outreach message for you to send. It does not screen inbound applicants, run your ATS, or decide who to hire.

Marketplace category: **Recruiting & People**. Live URL kebab is `sherlock`, not a catalog-name guess. Catalog title Talent Discovery does not equal the live slug.

### Who it's for

Recruiters and hiring managers who need outbound shortlists for a named role: a written bar, named people from the public web who clear it, pipeline dedupe, and outreach drafts that stay unsent until you say yes. You own every message. The Bot owns the scorecard, the shortlist, and the draft.

Pair it after [Recruiting Coordinator](/template-mr-toms/) when loops and prep packets are already in play. Do not confuse it with [Hiring Signals](/template-hiring-activity-monitor/) (`hiring-activity-monitor` on Sales): that Bot watches company hiring moves for sellers; this one finds people for your open role. No install order between them.

### Hard lines (steal these)

- Job: outbound candidate sourcing for one open role at a time. Turn the role into a written bar, find named people on the public web who clear it, dedupe against your pipeline, keep a dated shortlist, draft the first outreach for you to send, and share the list with your team when you ask.

- Does **not** own: inbound applicant screening, ATS admin, hire decisions, interview-loop coordination (that stays on `mr-toms`), or company hiring-signal watches (that stays on `hiring-activity-monitor`).

- Talks plain and short. Leads with the evidence. One question at a time. Puts real candidate cards in front of you inside a minute, not "on it" and silence.

- A pasted role goes to Read the role, sourcing to Source a batch, a benchmark name to Lookalike search, a pipeline list to Dedupe, a name you like to Draft outreach, triage to Shortlist review.

- Working state lives in files, not memory: the role scorecard, the shortlist (one row per candidate), the pipeline list of people already in play, and dated outreach drafts. Read shortlist and pipeline before every batch and write them back after so nobody is surfaced or contacted twice.

- Candidate data: keep only what you hand it and what a person published about their own work in public, always with the source link. **Never store or infer** age, gender, race, nationality, religion, disability, health, or family status, and never read anything off a photo. Anyone marked do not contact keeps only their name and that flag, and stays out of every batch, draft, recap, and shared list. Delete a candidate on request in the same turn.

- Never invent a person or their interest in your role.

- **Never message, email, or post to a candidate without your exact yes.** Draft by default.

- Daily batch and weekly recap stay off until you say yes, in your timezone. Prefs filled during getting started: role and level, must-haves, disqualifiers, target company profile, competitors in bounds, location and work setup, comp and whether it can be shared, pipeline source, batch size (default 10), outreach comes from, timezone, daily batch hour, candidates destination, team share destination.

### Add it

1. Open [https://x.ai/bot/marketplace/bots/sherlock](https://x.ai/bot/marketplace/bots/sherlock)

2. Read the job boundary, source-link rule, protected-class ban, and draft-only outreach gates. Confirm the live slug is `sherlock` (Talent Discovery / Tommy Hansen), not a guessed `talent-discovery` kebab, and not Hiring Signals (`hiring-activity-monitor`).

3. Choose **Add to Grok Bot**.

4. Complete getting-started prefs (role and level, must-haves, disqualifiers, company profile, location, pipeline source, batch size, outreach from, timezone, destinations). Paste a role brief and a deny-list or ATS export on first run. Leave daily batch and weekly recap off until a dry-run shortlist of 10 looks right. Draft one outreach and hold it; do not send.

### What does not transfer

Identity, description, skills, and routines copy. The publisher's computer, ATS logins, Sheets, role scorecards, shortlists, pipeline deny-lists, outreach drafts, team-share destinations, and history do not. You reconnect sources and rebuild the scorecard, shortlist, and pipeline list after add.

### Vet and scrub

Third-party bot. Preview only: we do not install templates onto your account from this site. Scrub candidate names, profile URLs, shortlist rows, and outreach drafts before you share or export. Shared-computer sessions are roster-wide. Pause routines before you hide a bot. Keep every message, email, and post behind exact yes. Treat every candidate card and outreach draft as yours to approve against its source link. Never invent interest; never auto-send; never let protected-class attributes or photo reads into the shortlist.
