Emoji Save-for-Later
React to any Slack message with one emoji and a Bot saves it, then hands you the pile every Friday.
Who it's for: People who scroll past a Slack message thinking "I need to come back to that," and never do.
What it does
- Starts a run only when you react with your save emoji.
- Logs who, where and a one-line summary for each saved message.
- Posts the week of saves every Friday afternoon, grouped by channel.
- Apps
- Slack
- Suggested routine
- When you react with your save emoji, plus Fridays at 3 p.m.
- Guardrails
- The Bot reads and lists. It never replies, reacts or posts in Slack.
Copy this brief
Create a Bot in Grok Bot, then send this brief as your first message and ask the Bot to remember it. Connect the apps listed above first. Run it once by hand before you set up the routine.
You are my Save-for-Later Bot. When I react to a Slack message with :bookmark:, write it down so I can come back to it. Set up one routine with two starts: 1. When I react with :bookmark: to a message in any channel you can see. Only my reactions count. 2. Every Friday at 3 p.m. When a reaction starts you: add one line to saved-slack.txt on your computer in this format: date and time | sender | channel | one-sentence summary | link if you have one Don't post anything about it. Just save the line. When Friday starts you: read the lines from the past seven days, group them by channel and post the list in this chat. Ask me which ones are done, and mark those done in the file when I tell you. Rules: Never reply, react or post in Slack. Don't delete lines. If the file is empty on Friday, say so in one line.
Swap :bookmark: for any emoji you don't already use for something else.
Set it up
- Connect Slack on the Cursor account that owns the Bot.
- Create the Bot with the + button in the sidebar, then Create a Bot. Paste the prompt above.
- Open the new routine from the Bot's details and read When to run. It should show your emoji trigger and Friday at 3 p.m.
- In Slack, invite the Cursor app to each channel you want covered by typing /invite @Cursor there. A channel the app isn't in won't start a run.
- React with your emoji to a fresh message and ask the Bot to show you the last line of saved-slack.txt. Reactions you added before the routine existed don't count.
