Give your Bot's inbox an alias for every job

Tip · Nov. 5, 2026

Our Bot has an email address of its own, claimed at mail.grokbot.com. The trick that lets one inbox handle several jobs is the tagged alias. This idea came from Forward Future's Grok Bot Playbook, Part I. Here's how we'd set it up.

1. Claim the address. Ask your Bot to claim an email address, or go to Connect apps and choose Email. Pick the name carefully. You get only one, and you can't rename or delete it later. If you use Grok Bot through a Cursor team, a team admin has to turn on agent email first.

2. Make an alias for each job. Add a plus sign and a tag after your name, such as yourname+receipts@mail.grokbot.com, yourname+leads@mail.grokbot.com or yourname+research@mail.grokbot.com. All of them land in the same inbox. There's nothing to set up; just start giving out the tagged version.

3. Hand out the right alias. Use the receipts alias at checkout, the leads alias on your contact form and the research alias for newsletters.

4. Give each alias its own routine. Ask your Bot for a routine that watches one alias, for example: file every receipt that arrives at the receipts address into a monthly spreadsheet. A routine set on an alias runs only for mail sent to that alias. A routine on the plain address runs for everything.

5. Keep sender filters. An alias sorts your mail; it doesn't keep anyone out. Anyone who learns it can write to it. Routines watch senders and domains, not subject lines, so tell each routine which senders to trust.

6. Check before anything goes out. Your Bot can reply from an alias. When a routine writes a reply, it waits as a draft until you approve it.

There's no inbox screen to browse. To see what came in, ask your Bot.

What to do: Claim your address, pick three jobs and give each one an alias and a routine this week.
