Grok Bot docs put personal Bot instructions in chat
Grok Bot's current official guide directs users to change a personal Bot's job in chat, rather than through a description field or a Bot settings page.
The Create and manage Bots guide draws a distinction between personal and shared Bots.
“Personal Bots no longer have a description or a Bot settings page; to change what a Bot does, tell it in chat.”
According to the guide, a shared Bot still has a description that its owner or a Manager can edit under About in the Bot's details.
For personal Bots, the guide separates lasting rules from individual assignments. A durable responsibility or preference belongs in a message asking the Bot to remember it. A one-time task needs an ordinary instruction.
The same guide says personal Bots have no memory screen. Users can ask what the Bot remembers, correct a stale fact or ask it to forget something in chat. It also warns that memory alone should not enforce safety boundaries. Approvals and Auto-review rules provide separate checks.
What to do: Give a personal Bot one job in chat, name its sources and say where it must stop for approval. Ask it to remember the lasting rules, then give it a specific first task. Ask what it remembers and correct anything wrong before relying on it.
