Grok Bot can now make phone calls, official account says
Grok Bot can place phone calls, the official Grok Bot account on X said Nov. 4. "Grok Bot can now make phone calls," the account posted at 12:13 p.m. CT, alongside a 42-second demo video.
Users had reported that Grok Bot was calling U.S. businesses for them as of Nov. 3. The official post confirms the feature exists. It did not say who can use it, what it costs or which countries it covers.
Elon Musk promoted the feature the same day. "Try Grok @Bot. It's like hiring an amazing assistant!" Musk posted.
The demo video walks through a call in three parts.
Before anything is dialed, a "Phone call" card appears with a question such as "Call your internet provider?" and two buttons, Cancel and Call. The call starts only after the user taps Call.
During the call, a live transcript fills the screen, with "Take over" and "End call" buttons in view.
In the demo, the user set a limit up front: "And don't let them talk me into a discount." When the company offered a 10 percent retention discount, the Bot turned it down.
The rules in Grok Bot's Terms, section 2.7, still apply to every call. GG's earlier guide on having Grok Bot call a business walks through them.
What to do with it
- Put your limits in the request, as the demo user did.
- Read the Phone call card before you tap Call. Tap Cancel if anything is off.
- Keep the transcript open so you can take over or end the call.
- Review the Terms rules before your first call.
