How to have Grok Bot call a business, and stay inside the rules

Tip · Nov. 4, 2026

Users report that Grok Bot can now phone US businesses for them. Peter Yang, posting on X, advised users to "just ask your bot to dial a number and give it some context upfront." Here is how to do that well, based on the official Grok Bot Terms.

1. Pick the right kind of call. Section 2.7 of the Terms limits calls to people "who have agreed to hear from" you. In practice, that means a business you already deal with: your internet provider, a doctor's office, a repair shop. The Terms bar marketing, mass calls, fraud, harassment, impersonation and calls to emergency services. For an emergency, dial 911 yourself; the Terms say calls "cannot be used to reach emergency services."

2. Write one complete brief. In a single message, give the Bot:

3. Expect the disclosure. Every call says it comes from a virtual assistant on your behalf and that it may be recorded. The Terms say you can't turn that off, so don't ask the Bot to pose as you.

4. Stay close. Sawyer Merritt wrote on X that a live transcript shows during the call and that the Bot asks you for details it doesn't have. Keep the chat open so the call doesn't stall.

5. Own the result. The Terms make you "the caller of record and solely responsible" for the call. Read the transcript when it ends and confirm anything the Bot agreed to.

What to do with it

Try a low-stakes call first, such as asking a store about its hours, before handing the Bot a bill negotiation.
