Pause your routines before a trip instead of deleting them
Your routines don't know you're on vacation. They keep to their schedule on Grok Bot's servers whether your laptop is open or not, so a daily digest you won't read for a week still does its work and still spends usage every morning.
Before you leave, pause the ones you won't need. Don't delete them. Deleting stops a routine for good and can't be undone, so you'd have to rebuild the instruction and schedule from scratch when you get home. A paused routine keeps both and simply waits.
How to pause
On desktop, click the Bot's name at the top of its chat and look under Routines on the Details tab. Each routine has a switch on its row. Flip it and the row says Paused. You can also open the routine and choose Pause.
On the phone, open the Bot's profile, tap the routine and turn off Active.
You can also just ask in chat. Try something like this:
```
I'm away next week. List all your routines and what each one does. Pause the ones I mark, and remind me the morning I'm back to turn them on again.
```
Decide what keeps running
Leave a routine on when missing it would cost you, such as a bill reminder or a watch on something with a deadline. Pause the ones that only make reading for you, like digests, roundups and weekly reviews.
Coming back
Turn each one back on with the same switch, or choose Resume. If a routine seems quiet after the trip, check its row first. A row that still says Paused is the first thing the help page tells you to rule out.
