Users say Grok Bot now phones US businesses for them

News · Nov. 4, 2026

Grok Bot users report that their Bots can now place phone calls to US businesses, and Elon Musk urged people on Nov. 3 to try it.

"Try asking Grok @Bot to make calls!" Musk wrote on X on Nov. 3, quoting a calling demo posted by Sawyer Merritt.

Peter Yang wrote on X the same day that "all Grok Bot users should have access to call US businesses now." In the post, Yang said the Bot negotiated a lower price and faster speed on an internet plan during a call with a Comcast representative.

Merritt described the flow in a post: "You just tell it who to call and why, and it handles the conversation for you." Merritt wrote that a live transcript appears during the call and that the Bot asks the user for any detail it lacks.

The official changelog has no calling entry yet. The Grok Bot Terms, updated Oct. 31, do cover it in section 2.7. Under those terms, the customer "is the caller of record and solely responsible" for each call. Users may phone only people who have consented to the calls. Marketing, mass calls, fraud, harassment, impersonation and emergency calls are barred. Every call announces that a virtual assistant is calling on the user's behalf and "may be recorded," and users "may not alter or disable these disclosures."

Usage is climbing. TokenPost reported Nov. 3 that SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell put Grok Bot at 800,000 paid weekly users on the company's Oct. 20 earnings call, which TokenPost said doubled the September count.

Watch this. The official Grok YouTube channel posted a new video, "What's New in Grok Bot #2."

What to do with it

Before your first call, read section 2.7 of the Terms. Call only businesses you already deal with, and give the Bot the number, your goal and your limits in one message. Then stay near the chat so you can answer its questions.
