SpaceXSI's data team builds a Bot the whole company can ask

News · Nov. 3, 2026

SpaceXSI published a look Nov. 2 at Data Bot, a Team Bot its data science team built so co-workers can get answers about company data without waiting on a data scientist.

In the post on x.ai, Sally Xu wrote that the data team teaches the Bot through a shared set of skills covering metrics and analysis, experiments, charts and dashboards, and data engineering. Data Bot can join a team's Slack channels, and it can post a weekly update on a metric there. The team also gave it shared memory, and the Bot's managers approve or reject what it wants to remember before anyone else sees it.

The post highlights product managers and marketers as users. Kevin Niparko, a product manager, "describes the experience as having a data scientist in his pocket," according to the post.

The data team estimates that Data Bot handled "about 70 hours of work" in the past week that would otherwise have gone to the data scientists.

Usage limits, day three. Coverage of Grok Bot's weekly limits kept growing. TechCrunch's headline said Musk "throttles" the limits, and TechCrunch wrote that Musk confirmed the jump in usage readings "was not a glitch." The Economic Times also covered Musk's Nov. 1 reply that "the cost of serving Grok Bot was unsustainably high relative to revenue." It quoted Benjamin De Kraker, whom it described as a former xAI worker. De Kraker wrote that two weeks earlier Grok Bot had been "an incredible success story" driving the company's revenue growth, and that now "it's unsustainable and loses money (???)."

Musk hasn't said how subscribers' limits will change, TechCrunch reported.

As of Nov. 3, the official changelog still showed version 0.78.1, from Oct. 27, as the newest release.
