Galaxy SE: FlyLo booking race and Sales Engineer bots
You're in a Sales Engineering seat. The ask is a technical story a buyer can trust: how the product behaves under race conditions, what the bots on your roster own, and where the demo stops being real.
On Galaxy Day 2 (~10:59-11:51 CT), Amrita Venkatraman (Lead Field Engineer) ran that lane on the X broadcast. Soft-hedge everything below as stream / slide-visible unless you re-verify it yourself.
Sales Engineer use cases (slide)
The use-case slide named four roles:
- Engineer - technical resource
- Customer Expert
- Echo
- Competitive intel
Treat those as a roster pattern you can copy: one bot per job, memory scoped to that lane, handoffs when the conversation changes shape.
FlyLo booking race (slide-visible)
Demo context on stream: Jellyfish | SpaceX title card, then a FlyLo booking-race walkthrough in the Grok Bot UI.
How the slide framed last-cabin protection:
- Postgres row locks plus a 10-minute hold, not a queue
- Cabin inventory keyed on a flight + cabin fare counter (
seats_available) POST /v1/bookingswithSELECT ... FOR UPDATE- Losing request:
409 insufficient_inventory - Seat assignment:
POST /v1/bookings/:pnr/seats - Seat conflicts:
409 seat_held/409 seat_taken - Expired drafts released by cron every minute
- Hold does not refresh if the user lingers past 10 minutes
- Called-out weak spot: same-browser double-submit can create two drafts if cabin count allows
If you re-teach this in your own SE motion, say plainly that Guru saw it on the Galaxy stream slide. Soft-check against whatever booking system you're actually selling.
Sidebar bots on the demo
Visible in the FlyLo UI:
- Serena Williams - Competitive Intel
- Sherlock - Technical expert on FlyLo
Later in the segment, Serena was used for booking-flow competitive checks; Sherlock assembled a code-backed FlyLo booking baseline while cloud agents mapped backend/frontend capabilities (stream transcription; soft-hedge).
Code-backed path you can walk a buyer through
Slide / UI path shown as live baseline:
- One-way search
- Cabin reserve (10-min hold)
- Travellers
- Mandatory seats + meals
- Mock pay
Explicitly not in that baseline: round-trip, bags upsell, real auth, or real payment. /trips UI was still a stub even where retrieve APIs existed (as presented on stream).
How you'd steal the pattern
- Split SE work across named bots (technical, customer expert, echo, competitive intel) instead of one mega-bot.
- For concurrency demos, lead with the lock + hold story, then name the failure codes the buyer should expect.
- Keep a "what's fake in this demo" list next to the happy path so you don't oversell mock pay or stub UIs.
- Soft-check plugins/skills against your own org before you promise GitHub sync or a connector that errored on stream.
