Grok Bot can now skip the draft and send messages directly
Grok Bot users can now tell a bot to stop drafting email and Slack messages for review and send them directly, according to SpaceXAI's official Grok Bot changelog.
The option is in version 0.64.0, dated Sept. 30. Email and Slack draft cards now offer "Disable drafts for this Bot, so that Bot sends messages directly," the changelog says. To get drafts back, you ask the bot to turn them on again.
Going by its label, the option covers one bot, not every bot on your account. That matters because drafts have been a review step between a bot and your outbox since early September. Version 0.45.0, dated Sept. 8, let a bot "write an email or Slack message as a draft for you to review, then Send or Discard it." (Our story on that feature.)
The changelog doesn't say whether Disable drafts changes how Auto-review, the separate agent that checks a bot's actions, treats a send.
Team Bots get managers and voice chat
Four releases from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2 also add several features for Team Bots, the shared bots SpaceXAI opened as a public beta for Teams and Enterprise plans in September. (Our Team Bots story.)
- Managers. The creator of a published Team Bot can add teammates under Managers, "who can then change its profile, skills, plugins, secrets, and Slack app," according to version 0.64.0.
- Voice chat. Teammates can start a voice chat with a Team Bot, and "the call stays in their own conversation with it," per version 0.65.0, dated Sept. 30.
- Approvals in Slack. In Slack threads, a bot that needs your approval now posts a "Review an action" card "only you can answer, instead of dropping the action," per version 0.63.0, dated Sept. 29.
- Bot to bot. You can ask a Team Bot in Slack to message one of your own bots, "and the reply comes to you privately in Grok Bot," the same release says.
- Setup steps. Team Bot setup now "goes card to card," and each card shows its step, "like Step 2 of 5," per version 0.65.0.
Updates install while you're away
Automatic Updates is now on by default, "so Grok Bot restarts to apply updates while you're away," according to version 0.65.0. You can turn it off in Settings, under Updates.
Other changes
- Secure Form. When a bot needs a login or another form filled, its chat card opens a Secure Form window that shows the site's name and icon (0.64.0).
- Avatars. Bot avatars have "bigger eyes," and the editor adds square, sparkle, clover, flower, heart, house, and star shapes (0.64.0).
- Marketplace. Marketplace now focuses on plugins. "Featured Bots and Bot search results no longer appear," and the search box reads "Search plugins" (0.63.0).
- Usage limits. When you use up your plan's included usage, Grok Bot shows the usage limit notice "instead of Bot failed to respond" (0.63.0).
- Stuck bots. A bot that hangs on an unresponsive command or computer "stops itself with a note," and your next message picks up where it left off (0.66.0, Oct. 2).
- Slack status. In Slack threads, a bot's status line shows what it's working on and stays up during long steps (0.66.0).
- Sleep. Update downloads resume after your computer sleeps (0.66.0).
Version 0.66.0 also added the starred Main Bot. (Our story on the primary bot.)
What to do with it
- Leave drafts on for any bot that writes to people outside your team. A sent email can't be pulled back.
- If you do turn drafts off, do it for one narrow bot, such as one that posts a daily summary to your own Slack channel, and say in its description who it may message.
- To undo it, tell that bot to turn drafts back on, then ask it to draft a test message to confirm the card comes back.
- Running a Team Bot? Add a second manager so you aren't the only one who can fix it.
- If you'd rather pick when Grok Bot restarts, check Settings, then Updates.
